Senior Manager/Director – Global Tax Services

 

Job Summary

KNAV US is seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager/Director to join our Global Tax Services team. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in international tax compliance, ASC 740 reporting, and the management of global tax services initiatives. This role involves leading substantial client engagements, driving the implementation of tax technology, managing complex tax projects across various industries, and adopting a consultative and client solution-oriented approach.

Key Responsibilities

Client Management:

  • Oversee a portfolio of clients with a focus on international tax compliance and consulting services.
  • Manage approximately $1M in client work and be responsible for generating additional annual sales.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, providing strategic tax planning and advisory services with a consultative and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Communicate with clients regarding the application of U.S. and non-U.S. tax technical developments to their specific fact patterns.

 Tax Compliance and Reporting:

  • Lead the preparation and review of ASC 740 reporting, including GILTI, Subpart F, FDII, Foreign Tax Credit (FTC), 245A, BEAT calculations, and impact analysis on effective tax rates.
  • Oversee US international tax compliance for both inbound and outbound companies, ensuring adherence to relevant tax regulations and filing requirements.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with international filing forms: 1042, 1118, 5471, 5472, 8858, 8990, 8991, 8992, 8993, and supporting schedules and statements as required.
  • Manage FATCA compliance, including the review of US withholding tax forms (1042, 1042-S, W-8 series).

 Technology and Process Improvement:

  • Continuously enhance tax processes through automation and technology, reducing time and improving accuracy.

 Advisory :

  • Conduct merger and acquisition analysis, due diligence, and restructuring planning for US and international transactions, with a focus on delivering effective tax rate benefits and cash tax savings.
  • Provide withholding tax analysis and treaty analysis for inbound and outbound transactions, assessing permanent establishment exposure.

 Research and IRS Representation:

  • Perform complex research and analysis of international tax issues, including drafting tax technical memos and tax opinions on complex international tax issues.
  • Identify tax planning opportunities that provide financial statement benefits and enhance the company’s tax profile.
  • Represent clients in IRS audits and respond to IRS notices, ensuring favorable outcomes.

 Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead and mentor a team of professionals, providing guidance on complex tax matters and fostering professional growth.
  • Train staff on international compliance engagements and the analysis of international tax technical issues.
  • Collaborate with controllers, CFOs, and directors across multiple regions, including Asia, Europe, and Latin America, to ensure cohesive global tax strategies.

 Industry Focus:

  • Work with clients across multiple industries, including technology, manufacturing, and distribution.

 Qualifications:

Education:

  • Master of Taxation (preferred).
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in international tax compliance, with significant experience in a leadership role.
  • Extensive experience in ASC 740 reporting, FATCA compliance, international tax planning, and accounting for income taxes under ASC 740.
  • Proven track record in managing large client portfolios, generating substantial revenue, and identifying tax planning opportunities.

 Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience leading technology implementation initiatives.
  • Proficiency in tax software and systems, including ONESOURCE & GoSystems.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex tax issues to clients and team members.
  • A consultative and client solution-oriented approach is a must.
  • Fluent in English, with conversational proficiency in Spanish as a plus.
